Milwaukee is a City of Festivals. The inaugural Chinese Culture Fest is proud to continue the tradition of ethnic and cultural festivals in Milwaukee. This unique festival, the first of its kind in Milwaukee, will bring Chinese culture into the rich and prosper culture diversity setting. The festival offers an authentic Chinese experience and is to be enjoyed by the entire family. The highlight of the festival will be the Dragon Boat Race - vibrant colored boats filled with men and women vigorously paddling, racing to cross the finish line first. Not only will the visuals be pure excitement, but the sounds of the pounding drum on each boat and the thumping of water as the oars power toward the finish will be symphonic.
Our mission is to show our appreciation of Chinese Heritage and to promote cultural treasures of China. Throughout the festival, there will be performances in Acrobatics, Traditional Dance, Chinese Folk Music, Peking Opera, and Chinese Martial Arts. There will be hands-on opportunities for the young and young-at-heart to make opera masks and lanterns, play traditional games, participate in a dragon parade, and even learning to speak and write Chinese. Of course, what is a festival without food? Come to enjoy real Chinese Cuisine, special dishes only to be found in mainland China.
There will be a number of carefully selected and dedicated food service providers. Each will have at least one unique Chinese dish that cannot be found in any local Chinese Restaurants or anywhere in the States. Each of these unique items has its own historical legend and cultural implications, for example, Lamb Skewers has an 1800 year history, Rou Jia Mo (Chinese Hamburg) has roughly a 2300 year history, both are very famous delicacies in China.
Finally, a marketplace will also be the opportunity to take cultural souvenirs home. With all this and more, come to taste the history and come to experience the culture!
